Epidemiology

Risk factors:
- Indwelling central catheter
- Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
- Broad-spectrum antibiotic use
- Gastrointestinal surgery & immunocompromise
Manifestation
- Usually unilateral floaters & progressive vision loss
- Pain rare until late in disease process
- Fever may be absent & patient may otherwise fell well
Diagnosis
- Blood cultures (often negative)
- Vitreous fluid sampling & culture
